Multiple processes are involved when a fist impacts an abdomen. First is the sting of pain from the skin getting hit. This is what produces the bruises we see afterwards. Then the ab muscles come into play. If the receiver is in good shape the muscles will absorb the majority of the power of the early punches. But even if he's in great shape, as more punches land eventually the muscles will give out. From that point on the force of subsequent blows will go into the abdominal organs. The stomach is just a bag and the spleen and pancreas are pretty well covered. Depending on the target of the punch this means primarily the liver and the intestines will suffer. After a while they give up and the man goes down.
Being fit will buy you time, maybe enough time to knock the other man out. But given enough full power punches into the liver and/or intestines, everyone gives up eventually.
That has been my experience as well. The toughest guts I have met usually had thick, hard muscles covered by a layer of subcutaneous fat. Not much to look at, but incredibly tough and able to take it.
Seeing definition in a mans gut has nothibg to do with how much punishment he can take. Conditioned abs under some fat can usualy take more unless the punchee is conditioned to take blows like trained fighters
Your right nothing hotter than trading sets of gutpunching with other fit guys. See who's in the best condition. I've taken on guys with muscled abs but we're not conditioned and could not take 10 hits. And others who took hundreds. Great feeling and time.
WOW! I would love to Gutpunch a Jobber who enjoys taking hundreds of slugs to his gut! I would use his NAVEL as my target, with some slugs to his lower abdominals. I would enjoy hearing his grunts and groans of pain and pleasure..."bring it on!" When I am done testing his limits, hours later, his stomach skin will be red, raw and SORE...YUM!

Totally agree with you. Nothing compares to trading some good hard punches in the gut, especially the lower belly (intestines). Best is when both men are about the same level of fitness so that it goes on for a long time.

I agree. I normally look kinda soft in the middle but I can take some heavy punishment in the belly.
