Inversión boots! Don’t worry if you can’t do a complete upside down crunch, even a partial crunch works.
For added fun, have a trusted training partner deliver 3 gut punches to you while you are contracted. Punch 1 very light, punch 2 heavier, and punch 3 heavier still.
Other than actual wrestling it’s the best ab workout I’ve encountered.
If you do NOT HAVE INVERSION boots, do standard hanging knee ups PLus do the 3 punches.
I'm 58 and lost my abs during COVID but when I worked out training for triathlons, I was fairly ripped - not like some of the bodybuilders and others you see on this site but I thought pretty good for a guy in his 50s. Here were my workout regimes and my diet:
Weekly:
100 - 150 miles of bicycling (either outside on the roads or on a trainer like a Peloton) These miles accumulated over the week - 50-70 on Saturday alone
3x week 30 -40 minute upper body workouts
3x week swim 2500-3000 yards (takes 45 - 60 minutes depending on the sets)
Lots of stretching after
If you like different types of workouts just adjust - you can see I did cardio and strength training. Swimming is great cause it's both and burns LOTs of fat.
Diet:
Reduce intake of white rice, bread, pasta - don't eliminate it ( I like them too much) but only have 2x week
Lots of veggies
Lots of fruit
Lean meat - very little red meat more ground turkey, chicken, fish, lentils
2x week vegetarian days
No fruit juices
No soda
Lots of water
Occasional (2x week - treats like pizza, ice cream, beer stuff like that)
It's not all that difficult to figure out. More difficult to follow. Need discipline. It works. Don't buy expensive plans or what not. Just do something like this. I'm working to get my abs back and plan to have them back by end of this summer.
Hey buddy - thanks for the video. What I'm really looking for is tips on how to get more ripped as I get older. I'm on supplements, work out 3x a week and do ab crunches and leg lifts, but the 6-pack is still eluding me!
The Gym trainers and others have said to me that a diet of certain food etc, will help a lot to form the abs with different exercises for different areas of abs .You will already have the abs there as most guys . They said that only diet of certain foods will help. I have tried the same as you but not the supplements .
That will increase core muscle .
Besides diet and ab crunches/leg lifts, are there any other suggestions for developing a six-pack that genetics and Mother Nature have denied you? Any supplements, focused exercises or diet tips will be greatly appreciated!
I'll be happy to post before and after pics after a 4-week regimen. Thanks, guys!
