Even if my health fully permitted the fees to compete are very high and in some tournaments you may also have go pay a membership fee to the spomsoring organization. Rarely, if ever will a few bodies paying a lower rate result in a need for more staffing, and the tournament gets more money anyway in total this way. I have yet to see a tourney with a rate for those of low income (with proper proof of course to prevent abuse) for those who simply cannot afford the fees. The only benefit I have seen is free parking in many tourneys but no equivalent benefit is ever given to those who walk or come by public transit to the site. It would be nice to compete but many of us due high rents and corporate price hikes on many items actually run up more debt every month and just paying for regular training at a dojo is difficult enough. I have seen dojos that will work with you, wish the tourney organizers would try working with you as well.
Thanks, im quite nervous, but at the moment at least im trying to lose some weight to be the heaviest one in the bracket, the max i can be is 76kg and im on 75.5kg
Best advice I got before my first comp was to breathe. I thought my matches I kept coming back to the advice. Deep breaths, slow myself down, and think of what to do next.
Also, try and come up with a game plan. Your go-to move from most positions. It may not always work out, but it's better then trying to come up with your next move on the spot. Write it down so you'll remember it.
Lastly, don't get tunnel vision. If something isn't working, change it up. I've been in matches where I kept trying a single move that didn't work multiple times and kept giving up top position.

2024-08-11 08:29No more competition for me now. Too old now to risk any injury, and the training sessions give me enough wrestling fun.
