I agree with Churd. I just think that the Cage and Drinking (drunk)adults was the wrong venue for the demonstration. Im going to watch a 18yo I train with at our club in Crawley fight tomorrow. Will be interesting to see how many kids they let in after this week.

I don't see anything wrong with this at all, other than that it should have been held in a sports hall rather than a pub/club.

It was a grappling match, it was simply done to give the lads a chance to experience the big night atmosphere so they know what to expect when they're older and ready to fight for real. Tabloid media blowing it out of proportion as it was ^in a cage. If they wore a Gi and competed on mats no one would bat an eyelid

As I understand it this was a 'warm up' match before the main events. It was not cagefighting. It was two kids wrestling in a cage!

Having said that I do feel that this is not the correct venue for such activities involving such young kids.

I have been to international MMA events that involved kids of similar ages that made the event in Lancashire look very tame.

It's the cage and the drinking adults that gives me problems.

I'll be interested to know what others of you think.

The BBC have just reported a story of 8 and 9 yr olds being involved in cagefighting: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lancashire-14998593. Is this too young for kids to start? Or should this be left up to the lads and their parents? The boys concerned seem to be keen on the whole thing; there is no suggestion that they have been coerced.
